LUTHERAN SCHOOLS: SECURING EACH CHILD'S FUTURE
|
Sept 5:
1st Day of School
|
|
The theme set
for National Lutheran School’s Week this school year is
“Securing Each Child’s Future.” This is based on Jeremiah
29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the
Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to
give you hope and a future.”
We live in a
world that sometimes seems void of hope. We can easily
become discouraged when we look at the prospects of our
future. This discouragement can lead to feelings of
hopelessness. However, God says that He has a plan for us.
A plan that will “prosper you and not harm you, a plan that
will give you hope and a future.” While we don’t know what
the future does hold, we know Who holds the future. We can
trust in the goodness of God to care for us in the midst of
situations that seem hopeless.
Our hope is not
in our circumstances, but in God our Father. That does not
necessarily mean that life will always turn out the way we
expected, but it does mean that we can always trust in our
Father to love us and watch over us. With our lives in His
care, we are guaranteed from an everlasting perspective,
that we will have an incredible future filled with hope
awaiting us that will last forever.
As we work on
the tasks set before us this year, we look forward to
helping the children and families of our school know that
their security is found in no one but our Lord and Savior,
Jesus Christ.

MEET OUR NEW TEACHER

MARY METZGER
Hello!
My name is Mary Metzger and I will be teaching
Kindergarten and 1st grade here at
Immanuel Lutheran School. I was born and raised in
Milwaukee, WI, attending St. Peter-Immanuel Lutheran
School for 9 years and then Milwaukee Lutheran High
School, graduating in 1998. After high school, I
attended Concordia University in St. Paul, MN (CSP).
I graduated in 2002 with a BA in Communication
Studies. Various jobs and opportunities took me to
Colorado and Ireland after graduation, but I settled
back in Milwaukee to work as a church secretary at
my home congregation at the time. After much
praying, I enrolled back at CSP for my elementary
education license and completed the licensure
program, Pre-Kindergarten through 6th
grade, this past spring. During this time I also
completed my Confessional Lutheranism minor (for
Lutheran Classroom Teachers), Art Design minor, and
Music minor. Through God’s plan, I am now moving to
Walker, MN to teach at Immanuel.
In my
spare time, I like to sing in choir and play various
musical instruments, including trumpet, French horn,
guitar, and handbells in ensembles. Spending time
with friends is also important to me, whether that
be by watching a movie, going for a walk, or playing
team sports. Soccer, hockey, and softball are my
favorites to play.
I am very
thankful for all the blessings and opportunities God
has placed in my life. It has been an interesting
journey and I know that He will continue to guide
each of us throughout our lives. “… being confident
of this very thing, that He who has begun a good
work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus
Christ…” Philippians 1:6
