PASS
THE TURKEY
Consider the simple phrase, “Pass the turkey.” You’re
likely to use it sometime in November, and people will
clearly understand what you mean. However, when your
passenger mutters the same phrase on a two-lane highway
while you plod behind a truck, he doesn’t expect a
drumstick. Even simple phrases can have more than one
meaning.
“Thank God” is another simple phrase. We usually hear it
after “near misses.” Sometimes it’s applied retroactively,
as in “Thank God the storm didn’t do even more damage.”
Many people proclaim it only on Friday (TGIF). Others
sarcastically mumble it in response to things like “The boss
wants us to work only 16 extra hours this week.” And, of
course, we reserve at least one day each year to say the
words in complete earnest.
You’re almost certain to read lists of things for which to
thank God this Thanksgiving. What does your list look
like? Mostly material things? Food on the table? Good
job? Healthy kids? Fantastic marriage? Wonderful
co-workers? Perhaps God has blessed you that way. Others
may have fewer blessings. Sadly, some see their lives as
plagued with little for which to be thankful.
Thank
God that we always have plenty of Him. Share the Gospel
story with your children, telling them of our loving God who
gave His only Son to die on the cross and rise again so we
might be saved. Thank God the Holy Spirit for coming into
your lives. With elections and Veterans Day coming, we
thank God for the many blessings of our country, for our
military service men and women, and for the freedoms we
enjoy. Thank God for your children without regard to size,
shape, demeanor, achievements, aptitude, or intelligence.
God entrusted HIS children to YOU. He wants you to raise
them to be just like their Father in heaven. What an
awesome responsibility! What a marvelous God! You have so
much!
THANK GOD! AND
PASS THE TURKEY. (by: Ed Grube)

Preschool & Pre-Kindergarten
The Preschool and
Pre-Kindergarten finished out the month of October with fire
safety and we had a great time during our harvest party.
This month we will be counting the blessings that God has
given us and talking about the first Thanksgiving. Our
country this month is Japan. We will be learning to
recognize the letters Tt & Mm and their sounds and the
colors gray and black.
Have a blessed
Thanksgiving

Kindergarten - 3rd Grade
There’s a chill
in the Autumn air, (and a few snowflakes), as the brightly
colored leaves float gracefully to the ground. God’s fall
creation is making its change to winter. Changes are
happening in the K-3rd grade classroom as well. The first
quarter of school is coming to an end and with that
parent/teacher conferences. Each child has made great
strides already this year. We have developed a good routine
and are enjoying all aspects of school. Highlights from
each grade include: K—learning letters & sounds,
patterning, recognizing the numerals to 10, counting,
handwriting, high frequency words; 1st—graphing, adding,
writing, reviewing letters & sounds, making words &
sentences; 2nd—adding, subtracting, estimation, writing,
reading, spelling; 3rd—adding, subtracting, graphing, place
value, reading, cursive, and spelling. Together we work on
science, history, art, PE & music and when our work is done
we play hard.
God comes first
in our classroom. Each day starts and ends with religion,
devotions, prayer & praise. We thank God for the blessings
He’s bestowed on us.
Blessings In
Christ,

4th - 6th Grade
Wow, the
month of October seemed like it had only just begun and
now it is over. We were able to celebrate 4 birthdays
in the month of October and look forward to the ones
that are coming up during the rest of the school year.
The month of November will be filled with tons of fun.
I would like to do another literature circle with the
students and maybe even split them between 3 books if
possible. Just a reminder to you parents, that the
first week of November is reserved for conferences. I
cannot wait to speak with all of you about the great job
your child (ren) are doing. Also, during that week the
public school does not have school on Friday the 3rd,
but we do, in anticipation of getting out at the end of
the school year early. Then, also we will not be having
school the second Friday of November. This month also
includes Thanksgiving. We have much to be thankful from
the Lord. During that short week, we will not be having
spelling.
Blessing to
you and yours during this time of blessing and
thanksgiving.

Lutheran School Students Participate in Lutheran School
Spelling Bee!
Saturday,
October 14th five students from the 3rd - 6th grade joined
50 students from other Lutheran schools at the spelling bee
held at Trinity Lutheran School in Fergus Falls. They took
a written test and an oral test Students who participated
were; Joe Entwistle, Bradley Foster, Tiger Johnson, Josie
Doss, and Chloe Johnson. All students did an exceptional
job, set a good Christian example and proudly represented
our school - Thanks. Thank you also to Sue Johnson and
Harry Entwistle for taking our students to the spelling bee. |
FIRE
SAFETY
Fire
fighters, Brian and Troy, came to visit the students at
Immanuel School. They told us about how to stay safe
and prevent fires. We learned that we need to have
fire drills at home just like we do at school. They
brought a pumper truck out with them and everyone took
turns spraying the fire hose. Another highlight was
when Miss Goetze put on all the fire gear and crawled
around on the floor. Brian and Troy did a great job
explaining their jobs to the children. We love it when
they come to school.

STUDENTS SING
FOR
LWML RALLY!
Our K-6th grade
students were privileged to sing for the LWML (Lutheran
Women’s Missionary League) Zone Rally held at St. John’s
Lutheran Church in Akeley. Their theme was JOY - Jesus
Overflowing in You. It was a JOY to be a part of their day
and to join in the mission to share the love of Jesus with
all we meet. |
GRANDPARENTS' DAY
was fun and exciting. Grandparents are special and we
are truly thankful for all the grandparents and friends that
came to visit. The students performed a Reader’s Theater
for their grandparents and sang a few songs. We played
BINGO and shared some wonderful snacks. |
