A GREAT PLACE TO GROW - GROWING IN CHRIST

OUR GUIDING LIGHT

One of my favorite scenes is that of a lighthouse high up on a cliff serving as a guide and comfort for passing sailors.  The lighthouse stands firm and strong, it’s light piercing through the dense fog and stormy weather.  Each lighthouse is unique both in its outward appearance and the kind of guidance it gives.

There are several different types of lights used.

           *   Making lights are the first lights a sailor sees when he is making
                land.
            *  Coasting lights are the lights that guide a ship along the coastline.
            *  Leading lights direct ships up the channels or into the harbors.

Various lights are used to tell one lighthouse from another.  Some lights are fixed with a long, steady beam.  Others flash off and on.  Others flash more light than dark.  Some use red and green lights.  Sometimes flashes of lights are arranged in groups.

To us it may seem confusing and impossible to tell which lighthouse is which and in what way it is guiding you.  But sailors have a book called “light lists”, put out by the coast guard, which shows the signals given out by each lighthouse.

The lighthouse is often used as a symbol for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  His light is the first light we see as we sail into this world.  His light is the light that guides us along the right path and into the safe harbor of heaven.  We need not get confused by other flashing lights of this world as our coast guard, God, has also given us a book called “The Bible” to keep us focused on His light.  “The light that shines in the darkness.” (John 1:5)  Jesus promises, “I am the light of the world; he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” (John 8:12)

Remember this new year to look to Christ as the guiding light of your life.

In Christ, Janna Kietzman

Kindergarten

The kindergarten really enjoyed doing the musical.  This was their first time as being part of it, and they loved it Congratulations to all the kids for a huge success.  A lot of work goes into doing these.

We are really going to roll thru the sounds of letters, learning another one every two days.  We are also running thru the numbers starting at 25 and adding a new number each day.  We are going to learn about winter and magnets.

I hope the musical start out your Christmas holiday on a high note!  Thanks to all who contributed in any way and thanks to those who came.  You lit up the children’s faces.

Hope you had a great holiday!

4th, 5th, 6th Grade

The snow is falling and our class is enjoying all the preparations for Christmas.  We painted our windows with watercolors, depicting the Nativity scene.  We are drawing and coloring Christmas Carol Posters, with each of the students working on a different carol.  The children have great times playing outside in the snow.  Eunice Dennis is going to be here one day helping us make Christmas candle wreaths.  Most importantly, we spent much of December working on our Christmas musical “Christmas In Reverse.”  The children memorized their parts, learned to sing their solos and all other songs, and put the finishing touches on their acting.  It was great fun!  What an exciting time of year!  They were all very excited about bringing this message of Jesus birth to the community.  May God bless you this New Year.

1st, 2nd, 3rd Grade:

Happy New Year!  We are excited to get back into the swing of things when we return to class January 3rd.

2005 ended in a whirlwind of activities, from Christmas program practice, to the program, to the excitement of class parties and the anticipation of Christmas only a few days away.  Pretty hard to stay focused with so much happening.  However, in the midst of all the flurry we took time each day to reflect on the reason for this season - Jesus! We are especially grateful for the opportunity we had to share Jesus with you through our Christmas program.  A big thank you to all who came to hear this Good News as told by the children.  If you missed it there will be video tapes available in the church & school office.

God has truly blessed us with this school where we can profess our faith freely and take time out of our day to honor our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

May God truly Bless you this New Year!

Miss Janna
