A GREAT PLACE TO GROW - GROWING IN CHRIST
                    
                      
                   HOPE FOR THE FUTURE

 “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.”    Hebrews 11:1

 

Lutheran Schools A Great Place To Grow - Transforming Lives is the theme for our year at Immanuel School.  The word Transform means “to change in form, appearance, or character”.  As the Spirit works through us at Immanuel Lutheran School students and families are being transformed.  Lives are being changed as the love of Jesus is proclaimed. With the importance of Christian values taught in our classrooms we are also growing and with growth comes change. 

We are excited at Immanuel to look toward the future with Faith & Hope!  Faith and Hope go together.  With our faith firmly rooted in the triune God we have the hope of a future filled with blessings.  I attended a meeting recently where the Bible study was focused on Hope.  I learned more about what it means to have Hope.  “When we experience Hope, we feel excited about the possible future, and we generally believe that the future we envision is attainable.  Hope engages and raises our spirit and mobilizes energy.  It causes us to want to act and enables us to draw on personal resources in the service of moving toward our goal….Hope is an emotional magnet - it keeps people going even in the midst of challenges.  Hope binds people together and helps us move in concert toward a desired end.”  As Christians our Hope is founded in Christ. As we look towards the future at Immanuel Lutheran Church and School do we believe that God can do more than we even ask for?  Are we fostering a Hope that moves us forward?  These are questions to ponder as we look at the possibilities and the challenges of growth at Immanuel Lutheran School.  I am thankful for the questions and positive discussion at the voters meeting in January where we proposed our plan for the future.  I am thankful for your vote of confidence as we look at the feasibility of adding 7th grade and another full time teacher.  Please keep Immanuel School and Church in your prayers and look with Hope that what God has begun He will continue to nourish and grow.

Paul reminds us in Philippians 4:4-9 “Rejoice in the Lord always, I will say again: Rejoice!  Let your gentleness be evident to all.  The Lord is near.  Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable-if anything is excellent or praiseworthy-think about such things.  Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me-put it into practice.  And the God of peace will be with you.”

  Preschool & Pre-Kindergarten

February will be an exciting month for the Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten! The month starts off with our new Royal Reader program, where friends and family come to read to us. We will celebrate Valentines Day with a party and learning the letters H and V. Later this month the Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten will go to India to learn about elephants and the letter E. We will end the month of February and start the month of March with the celebration of Dr. Suess’s birthday. We will read Dr. Suess books and try green eggs and ham. We are looking forward to National Lutheran Schools Week and all the fun things that are a part of that week. God’s Blessings to all!

Kindergarten - 3rd Grade

Wow!  What a productive month.  Our days are centered on the Miracles of Jesus.  We learned that our Lord has power over the devil, sin, sickness, wind, waves and even death.

We have been reading like crazy.  Using all the strategies we’ve learned to decode, comprehend and read more fluently. 

The kindergarteners have been working hard on letters, sounds and putting them together to make words and sentences.  They are also continuing to learn their numbers, shapes, comparing size & weight, and so much more. 

The first through third grade are not only busy with reading but their math continues to become more challenging at each of their perspective grade levels.  Much adding, subtracting, carrying, borrowing, time and money are being discovered.

Science has been all about clouds and sky. 

We are excited to be a part of the new volunteer reading program at Immanuel.  Grandma Vi comes and reads with us every Thursday.  We also have a special guest for the next few Fridays.  Christine comes from the safety council and is teaching our K-6th grade students about how to work out conflict, peacemaking and how to handle difficult situations.

As you can see it has been a busy month and we are looking forward to February which brings us Ground Hog’s Day, Valentine’s Day, President’s Day and so much more.

4th - 6th Grade

Thank you to all the parents and volunteers who helped with the carnival.  It was a fun evening to share with you all.

Another month has yet again passed.  It seems like the year is just flying by.  The Lord continues to bless our classroom.  The students are doing a marvelous job and we are learning many new things.  We have had the chance to mold bread and spoil milk for Science.  Plus, we looked into the different perspectives of the world of trading with the Indians.  Oh, so much more we still have to learn in the short few months that we have left.  Continue to focus and keep up the good work!

  • Creation Ball for each room from CPH

  • Computer games for Preschool

  • CD Players for the classrooms

  • Updated Maps that mount on the wall and pull down for 4-6 grade classrooms

  • A paper cutter that can be used to cut bigger pieces of paper (like construction paper)

  • Laminator (or a fund for one that heats and is able to laminate large posters as well as small)

  • Di-Cut Machine

  • Nice Teacher Desk Chairs 

 

Thanks to all those people who have already helped to make wishes come true at Immanuel.  We are truly blessed.
