LUTHERAN SCHOOLS: SECURING EACH CHILD'S FUTURE
|
|
SECURE IN CHRIST
Twas the week
before Christmas, and all through the house,
The children
were searching as quiet as a mouse.
They were
looking through closets and under the beds,
While visions
of presents danced through their heads.
The stockings
were hung by the chimney with care,
Just one
little peek - is a gift hiding there?
Alas all the
presents were under the tree,
In bright
colored packages wrapped tight as can be.
They shook
them, smelled them and tried to peer through,
But without
X-ray vision they hadn't a clue.
Although the
searching was over on Christmas eve night,
They had
faith that on Christmas they'd see hidden delights.A
Each
Christmas my siblings and I would hunt for treasures
hoping that our parents had slipped up in some way.
All we wanted was a peek at what was to come. This
is what it is like for us during Advent. We are
waiting and preparing for what is to come. The
prophets in the Old Testament gave the people of that
time a glimpse , or peek at what was to come. A
Savior, Christ the Lord. Although people knew
about the promise of a Savior, they didn't know what to
expect until it happened. And then some missed it.
Who would have expected God's Son to be born in a stable
on that first Christmas?
Today God
gives us a peek at what is to come through His Word.
Isaiah 35:2 says, "They will see the glory of the Lord,
the splendor of our God. Rev 1:7 says, "Look he is
coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him..."
and again in 22:7, "Behold, I am coming soon!" God
gives us another glimpse when He tells us that Heaven
will be unending and that God will be there with His
angels. There will be no more evil or pain, no
suffering or sorrow, no failures or weaknesses, It
will be paradise. We can't, by our own reasoning
understand it, or see it with x-ray vision. But we
have faith that Jesus will come for us on the second
Christmas.

|
So with
visions of heaven and Jesus in sight,
"He'll be our
Redeemer our Joy and Delight."
Come, Lord
Jesus

Have a
Blessed Christmas,

Lutheran School Spelling Bee!
Saturday,
November 1st students from the 3rd - 8th
grade joined students from other Lutheran
schools at the spelling bee held at Trinity
Lutheran School in Fergus Falls. They
took a written test and an oral test.
The students did an exceptional job, set a
good Christian example and proudly
represented our school. Thank you to
all those parents who drove or came along to
the spelling bee.

Bible Bowl
The 5th -
8th grade classes participated in the
Lutheran School Bible Bowl held Nov. 15 at
Family of Christ Lutheran School in Baxter.
They competed with other teams in 6
different rounds. Each round was 6
minutes long with 10 questions. It's
neat to see how much the students in our
Lutheran schools are remembering from their
religious training and just how much more
there is to learn. Congratulations to
Tiger Johnson for taking 2nd place in the
6th grade competition. GREAT JOB!

Preschool - Pre-kindergarten News
The Preschool and Pre-K have been very busy.
Last month we talked about the things we
were thankful for, and made turkey prints
for our parents. In December we will
be practicing our Christmas program, talking
about the greatest present of all - Jesus,
and learning about Germany. We will
learn about pickles in Christmas trees, and
how to make a pretzel you hang in the
Christmas tree. We are looking forward
to presenting our Christmas program on
Thursday, December 11th. Please join
us. We will also be making projects
for our families after the program and
having some great treats.
We continue to work on our numbers, colors,
and shapes. The Preschool and Pre-K
would like to wish all of you a blessed
Christmas and New Year.

Kindergarten - 3rd Grade News
Happy and Blessed Holidays! I love this time of year especially at school.
The joy and anticipation of Christmas is sometimes overwhelming as the children
bean from ear to ear with excitement. What a privilege it is to be with
them and to read, discuss, teach and show them God's amazing plan as we prepare
for Christ to come again.
Our
classroom time is spent trying to add more information to our brains while also
practicing for our Christmas musical. Math is keeping us all busy with
different addition and subtraction challenges and writing the numerals.
Each grade is working hard on their reading and literacy skills. We have
also been learning about our country past and present. (Voting, elections,
pilgrims, colonies...)
Have
a blessed Christmas
Miss
Janna

4th - 8th Grade News
Tis
the season to rejoice! The month of December is a busy one. We are
juggling work and musical practice. We can't wait to perform for you, we
have worked so hard. Just as Cece and her crew travel back in time to that
first Christmas night so should we travel in humble estate to the Lord's manger
bed. Tis a time to sing praises and Happy Birthday to Jesus. Enjoy
Christmas break and reflect on the best Christmas present ever. God's
blessing and Merry Christmas.
In
Him,
Holly Zubke
