“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”  Jeremiah 29:11

The new theme for the school year is “Lutheran Schools - Securing Each Child’s Future” and it is based on the above Bible verse from Jeremiah.  Once again we read that God’s children have taken their future into their own hands and God, in His infinite wisdom, has banished, (or exiled), them to Babylon under the rule of King Nebuchadnezzar.  God now reminds His people how to live and that it is He and He alone who secures their future.  “This is what the Lord says:  When seventy years are completed for Babylon, I will come to you and fulfill my gracious promise to bring you back to this place.  For I know the plans I have for you…plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”  We need to learn a lesson from watching God’s children in the Old Testament.  Every time they veered from God’s plan, God found a way to bring them back.  God’s will was done even if it meant some trying times for His people.

God wants us, His children, to be reminded that our future is in His hands. Before we were born God knew us and had a plan for our lives.  A plan can be looked at like a blueprint.  A design that guides us through a project.  We make plans or blueprints for everything we do whether we like it or not.  God’s blueprint for our lives was drawn up before we were born.  His design for our lives is much greater than we could ever imagine.  So why do we try to change it?  When you make plans for the future consider this:

                                                             Purpose

                                              Love

                                              Ask

                                              Need

                                              Savior

God has a purpose for your life. Trust His wisdom.  Because He loves you He will never leave you or forsake you.  Ask God through prayer and petition to guide and protect you.  Let your needs be known to God.  If you don’t know what you need, God knows your needs and provides for you.  Most importantly remember that your future is secure through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  When our blueprint here on earth has been completed God has a room waiting for us in Heaven.  His name is written on our hearts, our name is written in the book of Heaven.  May God’s will continue to guide your life.

Secure In Christ,

Janna Kietzman
