A GREAT PLACE TO GROW - GROWING IN CHRIST

"Why do you look for the living among the dead?  He is not here; he has risen!”

Luke 24:5b & 6a

 IS YOUR CHRIST DEAD?

You may be familiar with an interesting anecdote about Martin Luther.  He preached again and again that Christ is alive and at our side every day.  But he was also subject to periods of depression and discouragement.  On one such occasion his wife, Katie, dressed herself in mourning apparel and fixed a sorrowful expression on her face.  When Luther saw Katie apparently overwhelmed with sorrow, he was anxious.

“What has happened?”  he asks.

“Alas, the dear Lord is dead,”  she replied.

“What nonsense,”  he said.  “You know that God lives and cannot die.”

“Is that possible?”  she exclaimed.  “I thought surely He must be dead since you seem so distressed.”

Then Luther smiled and said, “You are right.  I should not be so sad because God—who has been, is, and will be—is always the same, loving God.”

We may believe that Jesus Christ rose from the grave, but often we don’t act that way.  We moan about all the problems in the world.  Selfishness dominates our thoughts and actions.  How can we be alive in Christ when we act as though He were dead?

Katie Luther was wiser than many of us.  In a comical way she reminded her husband that Christ does live, no matter how sad we may feel.  He did rise from the grave, just as surely as He mounted the ugly cross to take away our sins.  He is with us always as He promised.  That never changes.

Prayer:  O risen Christ, live in my heart each day according to Your baptismal promise. Amen.

  Preschool & Pre-Kindergarten

The Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten had a lot of fun during National Lutheran Schools week. Preschool had fun being castaways and learning about different countries and about witnessing. The Pre-Kindergarten had a great time at open house and at the Bear Paws Theater. This month we will be looking forward to Easter, spring and warmer weather. During Holy week the Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten will be making Resurrection eggs and special crosses. Other things to look forward to this month are learning about Bosnia, talking about Arbor Day and studying bugs and insects. We would like to wish all of you a blessed and Happy Easter.

Mrs. Lori & Mrs. Corina

Kindergarten - 3rd Grade

Thanks to everyone who supported and joined us during National Lutheran Schools Week.  We had a great time and learned so much.  We spent the week learning different ways we can witness for our Lord.  We learned about Mission India, the inner operations of a movie theater, met a special movie star, enjoyed the company of alumni and spent the day with our fellow students at Family of Christ Lutheran School in Baxter.  (And so much more.)  We were excited to visit with those who came to open house.  Don’t forget to register and tell others about the opportunity for a Christian education at Immanuel.

April bring the realization that there are only 2 months left of school and so much to do.  We look forward to Iowa Basics, musical practice, spring weather, and much more outdoor time.  We continue to work hard academically and grow spiritually.  We are thankful for the new life we have in the death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

                                Happy Easter,

                                Miss Janna

4th - 6th Grade

National Lutheran Schools week was a huge success and blessing to our school. Monday had us searching for treasure and being reassured that our greatest treasure is God's Son.Tuesday was open house. The students were able to take a spelling test with a friend or relative.Registration was also available for next year.Just another reminder, please register your students for next school year soon.Wednesday was a fun but interesting day.Going to Gobiland to share about Jesus was more work than some of the students realized. You will be happy to know that the students were successful in sharing and convincing the people of Gobiland of the saving grace of our Lord.Thursday was quite a scene. We wanted each student to know that God created each of them with gifts so they all won an Oscar for a trait that they encompass. The movie theater was lots of fun and we are glad that we don't have to get "flushed away." :) Friday was a long journey to Baxter. It was a great opportunity to meet other students from a Lutheran school. The Good News players did a great job sharing many well-known Bible stories in fun, rhyming verses.

April is upon us and coming closer to the end of the school year.Things that are upcoming to mark your calendars for are:Good Friday and Easter Monday; No school and of course, Iowa Basic Testing.April also brings the beginning of musical practice. Not only do we get to do all these things but we also will continue to work through all the major subjects.Continue to do your best and be prepared for the many things yet to come.God's blessings to you and yours. Hope you have a blessed Easter. He is risen!

In him,

Miss Goetze
